Behind The Scenes: What I’m Working On Now

Entrepreneurship, Thrive

I’m lifting the lid on my own business in this post to give you a behind the scenes look at what’s been going on, and more importantly, why.

The quiz has landed!

Quizzes have been quite the trend in online business for a while now, and it’s been on the project board as to whether I was going to do one or not.  It was probably on the ‘To think about’ list longer than usual, as this form of lead magnet is so much more than a few questions and answers!  Quizzes can provide so many helpful insights into your audience, and crafted correctly can be data gold!

Before I worked on one, I spent a lot of time reviewing the positioning of the business and my ideal client avatar.  The business has definitely evolved, especially in the last 3-4 years, so I needed to be sure that who I wanted to attract to the quiz would find it of value, and connecting with me would be of benefit to them longer term.

We’re not very trendy here at Virtually Does It, but we get results, so I wanted to be sure that if I was going to do the current trendy big thing, I was going to get a good result (it’s also quite a lot of work!).

The pre-work I did on the positioning and ideal client avatar was so beneficial.  As business owners I don’t think we do this enough, and it’s something I’m now building into my quarterly review cycles. It’s so important that we can stay front and centre of our audience, and we can connect with them on what we know they need. We also need to reflect on whether our business is actually still providing the same services.

If you’ve yet to do the quiz, I would love you to. And let me know what result you get and if it resonates with you.

Social media activity

I am not the biggest fan of social media for many reasons, but I do know, and have seen, the benefit of authentic visibility on the platforms that make sense to who you are, who you serve and what you do. And with everything I have coming up in Q4 I really wanted to get reconnected with social platforms, and I’ve actually quite enjoyed it – in small doses! And with some help!

I didn’t want to be just churning out random content that I see so often, so designing a content plan aligned to what’s coming up, and getting used to being more visible is now in place. So watch this space!

If we’re not yet commented, I’d love to see you on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and please bear with me as I get up to speed, but it would be great to see you there.

Metrics, Metrics, Metrics

I was asked recently what I wish I had done sooner in my business, and without a doubt it would be to track my metrics.  And by track I don’t just mean which Instagram post got the most likes, or which newsletter had the best open rate, I’m talking Google Data Studio level metrics.

I start on this about a year ago, and have dipped in and out of it, but it’s now a big priority for me to finish so I can get more insights and daily reporting to help me focus on what matters most.

This is still a work in progress, but the tech geek data person in me is loving building this out to show what I need to see to really make my marketing activity the best it can be, and that what I’m developing is aligned.  The insights have been really interesting so far. It’s not all about the data, there are also the conversations I’m having both on and offline, but those two together can be a powerful mix to get clarity on the direction of your business.

Brand experience

How do I want people to ‘feel’ when they work with me, or read a post, or connect with me on social media?

A question I often ask myself, so has been top of mind these last few weeks.  This goes hand in hand with becoming more visible on social media and thinking about the person behind the screen.

Support, always.

And alongside that there has been supporting my clients, Zooming with my team, taking some time off to enjoy the summer! Supporting myself as well as those I work with will always continue, no matter what.
