Goal setting is part and parcel of running a business. And I am sure you have got several on the go, or in your plans right now.
That being the case, I’m guessing you’re probably somewhere between excited and overwhelmed at the moment. Full of excitement to make changes, launch new products or services, try new marketing strategies, really boost your personal profile and make more of an impact doing what you love. Creating long lasting change for the good.

Statistically, you’re 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down, and I know that’s a no brainer for most of us now with all the planners and trackers that help us breakdown our plans to take action, build them back up again and make them a reality.

To make lasting change in your business, you need to look at your business as a whole, not just taking action on one goal, being so focussed on it that you don’t see the several complementary and important pillars to its achievement. And not leaving behind the remarkable business you have already created.
That is why plans fail, your goals fall silent a few weeks in as you get tired and frustrated at not making progress. You need to look further than your planner, your to-do list and even the vision you have when your goal is achieved.

Here’s three ways to make sure you make the best progress you possibly can.
The smaller the step the greater the momentum.
You don’t need to get everything done in a week, I would actually advise you didn’t as you will tweak, learn and change as you go. Small steps really are the best way to make progress. I’m sure you’ve heard that before but when you’re surrounded by a social-media world where everything seems to happen overnight it can be difficult to keep this in mind! The smaller the step the greater the momentum you will feel. It’s so much better to get 5 tasks done in a week that may have only taken you an hour in total, than to be three-quarters through one task that, however way you wrap it up, is still unfinished.
The more you actually achieve, however small, the greater the momentum and the quicker you move forward.
Plan for the mess!
As I said earlier, your goals look great on paper! However, there might be a lot more to executing them that you think.
You’re going to need to make sure you’ve got all your systems and processes in place to make sure that your goals actually work the way you want them to.
If you’re creating a new opt-in is you email marketing system up to scratch, are your funnels set out how you want them to be, and you’re sure of your customer journey?
Launching a new product? Is your payment gateway clear and easy to follow? Are new buyers added to your list and will they receive welcome emails?
There is more to think about than the end result.
Get in place the business infrastructure you need to support the results you’re going to get.
You WILL achieve your goals – that’s a given, but when you do, can your business support it? Can you handle the new clients, the new demands there may be on your time? Have you created all the content you need in order to deliver what you’re promising?
This is often the one thing in goal planning that is overlooked, or is left far too late. Plan in some time to create the right business for your success. Don’t put all the hard work in to then not give the experience you want to, and you deserve.
